Profile

Anders Hagberg is a Swedish musician and composer who play soprano saxophone and flutes. Anders has a unique sound, combining nordic melodic lyricism with playful rhythmic improvisations, influenced by his longtime collaborations with Indian and Japanese artists.
Over the years, Hagberg has toured world wide with his own projects and with world jazz groups such as Mynta, Yggdrasil and New Jungle Orchestra.
International collaborations include musicians from India, Japan, The Middle East, West- and South Africa, Scandinavia, US and Brazil.

With several recordings to his name, with 2 grammy nominations, Anders has also been commissioned to compose music for several films and dance performances. In collaborations with visual arts he has made perfomances in connection to exhibitions by Louise Bourgeois and Bill Viola.

Hagberg is also a Senior Lecturer in improvisation for saxophone and flute at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg.

His latest albums are Stories of Now with his Quartet and Ley Lines with Indian classical artists. In 2014 he will launch a new CD with artists from the Middle East.
